Gin and orange candied almonds
Hack into these for a great anytime snack
500g raw almonds
½ cup Bossieveld Inspiration Gin
¼ cup light brown sugar
¼ tsp salt
½ tsp nutmeg, ground
½ tsp ginger, ground
¼ tsp cloves, ground
½ cup freshly squeezed orange juice
You can prepare a large batch of these nuts and serve them later with your gin cocktail provided that you store them an airtight container.
- Combine the gin, orange juice, sugar and the spices into a saucepan and stir to dissolve over low heat. Bring to the boil and reduce until the sauce starts to thicken after approximately 10 to 15 minutes.
- Add the almonds and stir through to make sure that all the almonds are coated.
- Pour onto a greased oven pan and bake at 180˚C until golden brown, tossing the pan every now and then to prevent the nuts from burning.
- Remove from the oven and allow to cool before adding to the salad.
